Our Story

Hey there, I’m Savanna, and I’m so glad you’re here!

Palmer & Pine began long before there was ever a business plan, a website, or a name for any of this. It began with home. With the feeling of it. The kind of feeling that stays with you long after you leave a place.

Walt and I met at our local county fair in Mariposa during the junior livestock auction. Somewhere in the middle of all the crazy, we found each other. Looking back now, it feels like Palmer & Pine started there too.

This business carries pieces of both of us within it. The way we were raised. The community that shaped us. The homes we grew up in and the people who filled them.

For me, home has never been about things looking perfect. It has always been about how a space makes you feel. I have always believed people can feel when a home is loved. You walk through the door and something about it softens you a little. It feels safe. Familiar. Like life is happening there.

That feeling became the heart behind Palmer & Pine.

It was important to us that this business was built here in Mariposa, in the same community that raised us both. There is so much heart in this town, and so much of it has found its way into what Palmer & Pine has become.

Alongside our online shop, we also offer interior decorating and home staging services. Whether you are a realtor, an air bnb owner, or simply wanting a home refresh, we would love to help create a space that feels warm, lived in, and meaningful to come home to.

This business is deeply personal to both of us. It holds our story, our roots, and so many of the things we value most. We are endlessly grateful you are here and allowing us to share a small piece of it with you.

With full hearts,
Savanna & Walt

Our Name

Palmer & Pine is where both of our stories meet.

Palmer comes from Walt’s family.

His last name carries generations of history rooted in Cathey’s Valley, California, where his grandfather, Walt Palmer Sr., built a life as a rancher. He is someone Walt looks up to deeply and considers the foundation of their family legacy.

Pine comes from my side of home.

I grew up in Bootjack, California, surrounded by towering pine trees and a place that always felt impossible to leave for very long. Even now as an adult, I am always pulled back here to Mariposa. Truthfully, I start getting homesick if I am gone for too long… even if it is just a trip to the valley.

When we started building this business, “Palmer & Pine” felt like the only name it could have been. It holds pieces of both of us within it. Where we come from, what shaped us, and the life we are building together.

Meet Savanna

Founder and Creative Director of Palmer & Pine.

I have always been drawn to the feeling of home.

Not perfection. Not trends. Just the feeling. The kind of home that feels warm before you even sit down. The kind of space that tells a story without trying to. A home that feels collected slowly over time and full of the people living inside it.

Some of my earliest memories are of rearranging rooms, moving things from shelf to shelf, lighting candles, fluffing pillows, and paying attention to the little details that made a space feel different. Softer. Warmer. More alive. I loved the way a room could change the way someone felt the moment they walked into it. Honestly, many of my friends could probably tell you I was the friend they invited over because my idea of fun was cleaning and reorganizing their bedrooms.

As I got older, that turned into a deep love for antiques, found pieces, worn woods, old textures, and homes that felt layered with life. I have always believed the most beautiful spaces are the ones that feel personal. The ones that hold history, gathering, comfort, and everyday moments.

Palmer & Pine was born from that feeling.

This is not just a business to me. This is my dream in its truest form. A place where my love for home, design, family, and community all meet together. Every piece on our site is something I would bring into my own home, and most I already have! Every space I help design is approached with heart and intention because I know how deeply a home can impact the people living inside it.

I want people to walk into their homes and exhale. I want them to feel comforted there. I want them to feel inspired to gather, slow down, light the candle, cook the meal, invite people over, and create memories inside their walls.

Getting to build something like this in the same community that raised me means more than I could ever fully explain. Palmer & Pine carries so much of my heart within it, and I am endlessly grateful to share it with all of you.

Meet Walt

Founder and Operations Manager of Palmer & Pine.

Walt was raised in Cathey’s Valley, California, in a family deeply rooted in ranching. He grew up around cattle, heavy equipment, early mornings, and long days of work beside his dad and brother.

Even now, those roots are still a huge part of who he is.

While his family still owns and operates heavy equipment, Walt eventually decided he wanted something a little “heavier” in aviation. What started as simply wanting to fly eventually turned into a career flying worldwide as a corporate pilot on a Gulfstream fleet.

But truthfully, Palmer & Pine would not exist without Walt.

One night, he sat me down and told me that he believed it was important for both of us to live our dreams. He already had the opportunity to wake up every day and do something he loved, and he wanted the same for me. He told me he believed I could build something incredible, and from that conversation, Palmer & Pine slowly began to take shape.

Behind every part of this business is his encouragement, support, and belief in me.

While I lead the creative vision behind Palmer & Pine, Walt keeps everything moving behind the scenes. From logistics and operations to supporting the day-to-day growth of the business, he plays such a large role in bringing this dream to life.

At the end of the day, Palmer & Pine is rooted in the same things that shaped both of us. Home, family, hard work, community, and creating a life that feels meaningful to come home to.
